This is a great, simple relaxation exercise:

Firstly, practice relaxed breathing.  Simple breath by gently inhaling through the nose for the count of 3, and exhaling through the mouth also for the count of 3.  Don't forget to use your diaphragm (abdomen) to breath. 

You can try and build up the length of time which you take to breathe in and out eg count to 12 rather than 3.

You can combine this with using imagery.  Try and picture positive images such as a beautiful place or animal.  You can experiment with different imagery and you can also use neutral images such as geometrical shapes (eg imagine a blue square, which then becomes rectangular and then a square).

Try to do this for 10-20 minutes a day, at the same time each day.  You can also try relaxed breathing in stressful situations, such as being stuck in a traffic jam!
